We have had memory usage issues due to offline messages. I have limited the offline messages some more so this should fix the issue.

As you all probably have noticed there has been a regular crash happening every week or so. I have chased this down to offline messages getting too large. I have limited the amount of offline messages to 200 per user which is still more than the recommended default.

I have just pushed an update to the latest ejabberd code to the server. Sorry about the disruption but we should now see some speed improvements and the ability to add more functionality.

I realise that the website and forum have been going down hill for a while now.

I have just moved back to Tasmania (where everything is slower) and will have more time to look after this site and jabber in general.

List of things to look at:

Authentication SSL
Update Ejabberd to latest version
Add more content to the www.jabber.org.au page.
Post more often ;)

I think we will try and run at first without a forum as it just adds unneeded complexity. If it becomes apparent we do need one i will look at implementing it then.

Just letting everyone know that we seem to be having issues at around 5:20pm for the past to days and i am currently looking into it. CPU load seems to go crazy.

I will keep an eye on it tomorrow at this time.

We just experienced a small downtime while the server got moved to a new cluster.

Alrighty,

I have fixed the username creation to allow "-" and to force disallow of spaces. Now you will get the correct errors.

I will be going through the user database and deleting all the usernames with spaces this weekend.

Next to fix is the SSL Cert for the server.

Hey everyone,

Jeremy has found that the msn transport atm has a bug that consumes alot of bandwidth retrying a connection. Seems its a "feature" with Microsofts new MSN client.

I have patched the server so that will no longer be happening.

I have added a more forumish theme to the forum. I realise the width is kinda thin so i am looking around at other themes to use instead. If you guys have any ideas stick them up on the forum which you can also now create topics ;)
